Tuesday, 12 Sep 2017
It was an impressive showing for Australian artists who garnered a total of 21 wins in the international competition, including two First Place wins, one Second Place win, and 18 Honorable Mentions.
A big congratulations to our members who have taken home honours in the increasingly competitive Unsigned Only competition.
Selected from almost 6,000 entries, the winners represent some of the best unsigned artists worldwide across numerous genres. Unsigned Only awards more than US$150,000 in prizes split among 28 winners, including a Grand Prize package of US$20,000 in cash plus merchandise and services.
“Australian artists always make a strong showing in Unsigned Only,” said Founders/Directors Candace Avery and Jim Morgan. “Our Aussie winners exemplify some of the best up-and-coming talent in the world, and winning Unsigned Only gives them the opportunity to be heard on an international scale. We are committed to showcasing their talents.”
APRA Professional Development Award recipient Katrina Burgoyne was awarded first place in the Country category for her emotional song When I’m Broken.
El Cosgrove took first place in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter category for her country-tinged tune Nobody’s Gettin’ out Alive.
Sydney’s Emma Mullings garnered second place in the Christian category for her empowering track Skinny Roads, which hit #1 on the iTunes Inspirational charts upon release. Emma can also be heard on afternoons on Hope 103.2FM.
